Before we get too much farther into 2016 (!), I wanted to share a few memories of New Year’s Eve in Zihuatanejo.
We kicked things off with dinner overlooking the bay – luckily for us, the final sunset of the year was a glorious one!
We had champagne, of course, and a nice fixed course menu. After dessert, we each received a bag with 12 grapes, intended to be eaten one at a time as the clock struck midnight – a Spanish tradition that’s supposed to ward off evil and/or usher in a year of prosperity. (I’m all in favor of both of those!)
Just before midnight, D and I took our grapes and some more champagne to our balcony to watch the fireworks across the bay.
Quite the opposite of my usual NYE plans (aka, going to bed early), and a fun and memorable night!

Hi there, I am just wondering what restaurant you were at for New Year in Zihua. It looks lovely (I will be there this new year and am trying to come up with a plan)
Thanks!

Hi Matt! We were at the restaurant at La Casa que Canta hotel. Great food and a beautiful setting, though note that for NYE it’s a set prix fixe menu. (Maybe worth checking out another time for their regular menu!) Have a wonderful trip!
